Phase 2 Begins

Now that the designer, Meme, has found a picture of what she wants the seating wall to look like we can proceed with hardscape for phase 2 of this project.

In the view below we are looking North and the seating wall will be on the east side of this outside room. We have begun pouring the 16 concrete pads which will form the floor for the room.

Behind Coco is the remainder of the crushed black granite which will go around the border of the pad floor. The interior spaces between the pads are filled 3/4 of the way with crusher fines and the last 1" is topped with black beach pebbles from Mexico.

I have never constructed a wall before so I will have lots to share about that part of the project as we get further into it. We poured a backsplash for bathroom vanity last week and we made an interesting discovery which are asking the designer for permission to include in this outside redo. We had several failed attempts on the backsplash so we redesigned the mold and lined it with polypropylene sheets. The backsplash came out the mold very easily and appeared as though it had been diamond polished. Very cool.
